Business lead - Carbon accounting and climate finance

We are looking for a passionate individual to lead the carbon accounting business strand of the Centre. The role will involve the timely delivery of high-quality consultancy advice to clients to establish science-based and net-zero carbon targets, grounded in climate action plans that drive emissions reductions across internal operations and the value chain. You will be fully accountable for the development and overall management of proposals, development of the carbon accounting and climate finance team and for the implementation of highly complex projects. You will provide technical guidance to the project teams, act as the main point of contact for the clients and promote our services to drive new business growth. In addition, you will also lead the development of new products and solutions to address sustainability challenges through collaboration with RSK’s Research Institute that focusses on climate finance.

This is an exciting opportunity, where you, and your team’s contributions will proactively shape the future success not only of our business but also delivery of the Paris Agreement and UNSDGs. We are looking for someone who is highly driven, an engaging sales leader and work winner, who is aligned with our business vision and values. As a member of the Centre’s management team, you will be comfortable working at both operational and strategic levels, a visible leader who is capable of engaging internal and external stakeholders. You will hold overall responsibility for the achievement of targets including those related to carbon accounting, social value and the traditional financial targets of revenue generation, margin, costs and profitability.

**Main duties and responsibilities will include**:
Manage and supervise large/complex consulting projects for clients on carbon appraisals, carbon accounting, all scopes of corporate GHG assessments (“carbon footprinting”) to GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, Scope 3 Standard, and other relevant protocols; task force for climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD), carbon regulation and policy.

Identification of new opportunities, guidance on the development of proposals and implementation of projects, as well as leading technical reviews.

Technical development and growth of the team and mentoring of team members.

Work closely with the Centre’s other business units, marketing team and RSK Group businesses, particularly the carbon and sustainability teams, to design and deliver the portfolio of work in accordance with RSK’s strategic plan.

Represent the Centre in key events and other fora, building relationships with businesses, investors, governments, NGOs and academia, increasing our external profile and reputation.

Position the Centre to influence key policy issues and engage in emerging topics at the nexus of net zero carbon strategies, climate change and sustainability.

Lead the development of the Centre’s thought leadership, services, products, marketing materials and offerings with respect to carbon accounting and climate finance.

Measure and meet environmental, social and financial KPI.

**Desired experience**:
University degree, ideally at a Master’s level or higher, in Environmental Sciences, Mathematics or Engineering.

Over 10 years’ of work experience in delivering carbon management projects, either in-house or in a consultancy environment in multiple geographies.

In depth knowledge of GHG accounting or life cycle assessment (LCA), carbon policy developments, energy markets, wider sustainability issues, and likely future trends.

Excellent writing skills, with proven expertise in creating and reviewing high-quality written documents (proposals and deliverables).

A high level of competency in Excel, and strong data validation and analysis skills.

Excellent stakeholder and client management skills and ability to communicate effectively from people from a variety of backgrounds, on both technical and non-technical levels.
