**Regional Food Regulatory Specialist**

This position is accountable for supporting regulatory activities and ensuring compliance of Perfetti Van Melle confectionery products (chewing gums, candies, snacks made with dried fruit and nuts) with laws and technical standards applicable to Food Industry as well as Group’s Policies.

**Territories Involved**:Far East markets (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand), Philippines and Japan

**Main Regulatory Aspects**:Food and labelling regulations (food additives, food supplement, health and nutrition claims etc.), toys, external affairs (participation in national and international food trade association meetings, preparation of position papers etc.)

**Requirements for the Role**:

- To support the Regulatory Manager in the daily tasks while monitoring and interpreting the food regulations, analysing recipe/technical documents, checking labels, providing regulatory advice on projects.
- To work with regional stakeholders with technical knowledge to prepare IL-NI (Ingredient Lists and Nutrition Information) and ensure products meet legislative requirements including ingredients conformance, label and claims compliance.

**Job Responsibilities (To be managed with the Team)**:

- Study, gather and verify food and labelling regulations and food standards and their possible revisions related to territories involved and ensure timely filing and proper documentation of regulatory database
- Support in providing updates on regulatory topics of interest as mentioned under “Main Regulatory Aspects” (e.g. through legislative monitoring services or trade associations or consultant liaisons) and communicate the impact of changing regulations to the relevant stakeholders
- Toys&Gadgets: monitor the related legislation, support in the project development, cooperate with stakeholders in ensuring compliance of such products and labels.
- Support and facilitate the launch of products/ NPDs with internal stakeholders (R&D and Marketing) by issuing advice on regulatory requirements and label claims with the supervision of the Manager
- Provide some support to R&D on compliance issues related to food additives, raw materials, ingredients etc.
- Support in managing the legal compliance of products with national food legislation/standards of the territories involved
- Prepare and issue ingredient lists and nutrition information (IL-NI) for all territories upon the recipe sharing by R&D
- Review and approve product labels and product claims to ensure compliance with local legislation, labelling guidelines and internal standards
- Support in verifying the compliance of advertisement and promotional materials while preparing advice in coordination with the Manager
- Liaises with regulatory authorities as and when required
- External Affairs: work closely with Manager to represent company in participating the national and international food trade association meetings

**Required Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Law/ Science/ Food Science/ Nutrition/ Food Engineering/ Biology & Chemical
- Minimum 3 years of working experience in regulatory affairs/ in multinational companies from the food industry
- Proficient in English. Good to know other languages such as Japanese or Korean
- Good knowledge of food laws with a specific focus on food additives regulations and labelling requirements
- Strong interest in learning and studying various countries’ food legislation and standards
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Work in a Team, can cooperate and communicate well across the company
- High degree of flexibility, organized and detail-oriented
- Quick learner of new concepts in different areas
- Ability to analyse issues and recognize gaps in processes, can combine scientific knowledge with legal aspects
