**About the Role**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Principal Maritime Commercial to join the Maritime & Supply Chain Excellence team in Singapore, as part of BHPs broader Commercial organisation.

This role requires an experienced charterer familiar with smaller bulks operating on the global maritime supply chain, with emphasis on South American maritime trades.

BHPs Maritime team provides safe and sustainable transportation of commodities by sea across our global production and customer network.

BHPs commercial activities are undertaken through a centralised Marketing and Procurement organization with a network of offices across the world supporting our major customer markets and the distribution of product from our operations.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Demonstrates thorough understanding of and adherence to all relevant compliance policies in order to facilitate meeting BHP and external legislative, reporting, governance and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrates a capability set aligned to a culture of care, trust and performance.
- Senior chartering and account management for BHPs Supramax portfolio desk.
- Manage and execute commercial accounts across the maritime supply chain, balancing operational, commercial and sustainability outcomes.
- Have experience in developing coverage strategies to balance short and long term physical and paper freight positions across time charter and voyage charter contracting methods.
- Translate market information, indices and knowledge into value generating strategic freight positions to optimize supply chain cost. Be strategically aware of industry regulatory events and impacts.
- Articulates a sound understanding of the freight industry supply chain dynamics, particularly dry bulk sectors, and can identify optimisation levers to improve safety, sustainability, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensures strong alignment between commodity sales strategies, growth opportunities and outlook of sourcing volumes.
- Demonstrates understanding of inherent industry risks and can articulate a clear risk management approach for this position.

**About You**:
**Skills and Experience**
- Bachelor degree in Economics, Science, Engineering, Shipping, Supply Chain or Business.

**Experience & Technical Competencies**
- 5-10 years working experience in commodity markets, shipping or supply chain logistics industries. Specific industry experience in dry bulk chartering or commercial operations.
- Strong industry contacts & relationships
- Deep knowledge of freight markets and operations.

**Languages **- Fluent in English, Spanish-speaking highly desirable.
