Guide Dogs Singapore Ltd (GDS) is expanding our team and seeking like-minded individuals to join

us. Due to the increased demand for Orientation and Mobility services, we are seeking an

experienced Orientation & Mobility Specialist to join our Client Services Team of Orientation

Mobility Specialists and IT Trainer. As a team, all of you will support clients with vision impairment

holistically through client-centred rehabilitation programmes individually or in groups.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide assessment, intervention and evaluation in the areas of orientation and mobility and independent living skills for GDS clients
- Provide information and training in mobility aids and devices to support safe and

independent travel for GDS clients
- Conduct functional vision assessment, discuss and set training goals with clients
- Achieve training goals through effective engagement with clients’ families, immediate communities and allied health specialists from other service providers
- Provide support in the planning and execution of client-centric activities - for example provide training to schools and companies who organise activities to our clients
- Prepare and maintain case reports using the Integrated Relationship E-database Management System
- Work to improve the effectiveness of service delivery by managing issues and making recommendations to the Client Services Team where required
- Other duties as required by General Manager and the Directors in charge of Client Services

**Technical Competencies**:

- At least 3 years of experience as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist training people with VI on orientation and mobility skills and independent living skills.
- Proficient in functional vision assessment and developing training programmes.
- Good administrative skills as you will be required to record training session notes.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to coach and build trust with people from different walks of life.

**Core Competencies**:

- Able to work independently and with a multi-disciplinary team
- Able to connect and coach people of various ages and backgrounds
- Physically fit, able to walk long distance and train outdoors
- Comfortable in using digital tools in daily work such as the recording of case notes in the Integrated Relationship E-database Management System
- Adaptable and a critical thinker

**Preferred achievements / characteristics**:

- Accreditations in teaching Orientation and Mobility
- Diligence, integrity, positive mindset, self-motivated
- Passionate in a mission that empowers people with VI to achieve their fullest potential within society
- Able to work on occasional weekends and evenings (time off will be given)
- Comfortable with community engagement like public speaking, training to community partners will be a bonus
