Dietetics Assistant

**1. Major Duties and Responsibilities**

(a) **SPECIFICS (90%)**

**1. Administration**
- collate and generate monthly reports of selected statistics
- assist in coordinating schedules of community dietitian with community partners, nursing and patients
- assist in coordinating schedules of dietetic interns and polytechnic student attachments

**2. Management of Education Material**
- support the Head of Department and dietitians in implementing hospital-wide management strategies (i.e., assist in creating, updating education materials & resources, market survey of current and new food products) to enhance educational material and messaging for all staff and patients, in support of a Health Promotion Hospital
- manage, design, and distribute nutritional information on department’s social media platform, web page and intranet

**3. Foodservice**
- monitor current processes and seek improvement
- assist in quality assurance initiatives (e.g. nutrient analysis of standardized recipes, improve documentation of kitchen processes 2
- conduct external audits to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and assess the alignment between planned menus and actual food served
- contribute and monitor health promoting initiatives in eateries within KTPH
- assist to evaluate food outlets within hospital premises - eateries, retail pharmacies, convenience stores, food / beverage vending machines and to suggest healthier food options

**4. Service Delivery**
- coordinate and deliver basic nutrition talks, cooking sessions, supermarket tours, in-service or training to staff and community at large
- solicit feedback from patients in the wards, outpatients and community regarding dietetic services and meal service
- contribute to workplace health initiatives within hospital
- initiate and implement any identified continuous improvement projects that require attention and action
- assist in conducting nutrient analysis for food diaries

**5. Education & Research**
- assist dietitians in conducting research and data collection
- participate in nutrition projects within department or with other healthcare teams where appropriate
- participate in quality service-related activities and courses

**(b) GENERAL (10 %)**

**6. Personal Management**
- observe the YH’s Basics and values
- maintain confidentiality of patient’s and departmental information with discretion.
- support actively the local dietetic professional body (Singapore Nutrition & Dietetic Association)
- participate in hospital-wide activities eg. commemorative functions, gardening, staff health screening, book reviews, etc
- communicate effectively (focused, flexible, dynamic, sensitive) with hospital colleagues and non-KTPH dietitians / nutritionists
- uphold the nutrition professionalism by maintaining optimum physical health
- Support good working relationship and team spirit with colleagues.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**

(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Food Science, Nutrition, Food Service or equivalent
- Proficiency in written / spoken English, fluent in spoken Mandarin, Malay or Tamil.
- Competent in MS Office and Social Media.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently.
- Preferably with minimum two years relevant working experience.

**ABNORMAL PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITION**
- Education initiatives may be conducted outside hospital premises and outside working hours.
- Required to perform clerical and administrative duties relating to foodservice as assigned by the Head of Department/ Manager.
- May be required to station in kitchen and wards.
