**ABOUT US**

Polybee is on a mission to enhance global food security. To achieve our mission, we are building technologies that increase productivity in the fresh produce sector in agriculture. Our first service forecasts yield and automates pollination using nano-drones and AI. Our main customers are seed companies, greenhouse co-operatives, and indoor vertical farms.

Polybee was incorporated in 2019 and is backed by some of the most prestigious institutions and deep-tech investors from Singapore such as the National University of Singapore, Temasek Foundation, elev8 VC and SEEDS Capital.

One of Polybee’s flagship features is yield measurement using computer vision and AI. As we collect visual data on major crops like tomatoes in greenhouses across several crop cycles, varieties, seasons, and regions, we are building a comprehensive database of yield with unprecedented temporal and spatial resolution. The main objective of this study is to investigate how a financial institution would measure the credit risk for a smallholder farmer looking to transform an open field into a greenhouse, and how Polybee’s proprietary yield database in greenhouses can be leveraged to facilitate provision of credit to a smallholder.

**WHAT YOU’LL DO AT POLYBEE**:

- Conduct research on the main challenges faced by smallholder farmers related to access to finance and markets.
- Evaluate current methods used by smallholder farmers to access finance and markets.
- Evaluating the economic benefits of transitioning to protected cultivation for smallholder farmers and developing methods to quantify these benefits.
- Identify and recommend strategies for supporting smallholder farmers to access finance, technical knowledge, and markets for protected cultivation.
- Evaluate potential solutions for addressing the challenges faced by smallholder farmers related to access to finance and markets.
- Evaluating the data currently accessed by creditors to measure risk for smallholder farmers and identifying any additional data needed.
- Analyzing the structure of financial organizations that offer credit to smallholder farmers and evaluating how credit risk is measured at each step.

**HERE’S WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**:

- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of finance and credit risk assessment methods.
- Understanding of the agricultural industry, including smallholder farming operations, commodity markets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Experience with data analysis and financial modelling.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- A curious, driven to solve problems, willing to venture into unchartered territories and grapple with open ended questions in finance.

**YOU BRING TO POLYBEE:
1) Advanced degree in Agricultural Economics, Finance, or a related field.

2) Experience in credit risk analysis for small and medium enterprises.

3) Experience in agribusiness (Huge advantage)

4) Exceptional quantitative skills with experience in building financial models, evaluating balance sheets and valuations.

5) MBA & MS in finance from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 University.
