Functions

The main role of the Competence Development Manager is a key member of the MHR Leadership Team, reporting to the MHR Director, with overall responsibility for seafarer training within Technical Management.

Responsibilities & duties
- Develop and maintain training matrices for each segment.
- Manage the Competence Management System, specifying competencies for each vessel type.
- Oversee training processes within the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Collaborate with MQA to determine familiarization training requirements.
- Ensure training provided to seafarers is relevant and addresses current challenges.
- Plan and organize the annual seminar schedule.
- Coordinate cadet planning.
- Support the implementation of seafarer career development initiatives.
- Facilitate and promote the officer-in-office program across the fleet.
- Develop specific training requirements and objectives for TM, based on fleet feedback.
- Ensure training requirements are met by CM and that training objectives are achieved.
- Strategically map future competencies based on upcoming regulations and technological advancements.
- Monitor compliance with the Competence Management System (OLP).
- Maintain an overview of training budgets and ensure accountability.

Qualifications & experiences
- Degree or Maritime college certifications
- More than 5 years’ relevant experience in the shore based Maritime industry.
- A track record of leading and managing change.
