
Deputy General Manager

Reporting directly to the General Manager (GM), the Deputy General Manager will take on a proactive role in supporting the GM to raise and develop the organisation’s profile and prominence within the sports industry, devise strategies to diversify revenue streams and promote the sport to attract sponsors. The incumbent will also be the key liaison person for International collaborations for the sport and support the GM in the management of the organisation’s financials, and day to day running of SAA operations.

**1. Sports Development
- Actively engage Affiliate members to provide support for the development of athletics.
- Actively engage Athletes to facilitate and support their development plans.
**2. Secretariat Staff
- To support the GM in ensuring smooth and efficient secretariat office operations.
- Recommend, review, and develop sports management and administration programmes and support schemes as well as policies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of management practices and capabilities.
- Provide direction and oversee the events/competitions and capability development departments.
- Plan, appraise and monitor staff development.
- Support the GM in the effectiveness of communication channels to ensure that the Board, sub-committees, staff and members are kept informed of activities.
**3. SAA Board
- Together with the GM, work with the SAA Board to establish sound governance and accountability systems and processes.
- Provide support for all Board activities.
- Ensure Board members receive relevant documents.
- Keep Board members regularly informed of SAA activities.
**4. Finance
- Oversee the budget for all events/competitions and capability development programs, including technical officials’ development.
- Ensure that individual budgets for each programme are submitted and coordinated.
**5. Sport Singapore (Sport SG)
- Together with the GM, provide a direct link between SAA and Sport SG.
- Assist the GM in preparing the Multi Year Sports Plan in accordance with the requirements of Sport SG.
- Ensure that all operations and procedures conform to the prevailing regulations, policies and guidelines issued by the Sport SG.
- To help SAA meet agreed upon KPIs by the NSA and Sport SG.
**6. International Affairs
- To collaborate and maintain good relationship with WA and AAA to develop the sport locally and regionally.
- To monitor and enforce all related sport requirements and as a key liaison to establish links and collaboration with other countries to further the sport.
**7. Public Relations
- Assist the GM in the preparation of all press release and ensure that the releases are sent out at appropriate times for all activities, in consultation with the SAA President and committee.
- Proof-read and edit all official documents and written communication to ensure that they fulfil both the needs of SAA and Sponsors.
- Coordinate the production, distribution and update of Annual Calendar of Events.
**8. Code of Ethics
- To act in the best interest of SAA at all times and avoid any interest, activity or relationship that conflicts with the interests of SAA.
- To ensure proper governance and stewardship over the properties, assets and monies of SAA.
**9. Building and Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance of all assets.
- Plan for the upgrading of equipment and buildings.
**SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
i. Bachelor’s Degree. Diploma holders with more years of relevant experience may also be considered.
ii. Demonstrate knowledge in planning and possess good organisation skills.
iii. Experience in managing a budget and a team.
iv. Strong communicator in both written and oral English
v. Good inter-personal skills to engage with stakeholders.
vi. Relevant experience in events management and/or commercialisation will be an added advantage
vii. Have passion for sports and working with athletes.
