**Duties**:
**WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY**
As a Field Program Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with providing oversite and guidance to Unaccompanied Children Programs to optimize business results and customer experience by:
- Providing strategic oversight and coaching to improve the quality and efficiency of care and releases at assigned shelter sites for unaccompanied children.
- Reviewing and analyzing data (incidents, lengths of care, releases) regarding assigned shelters to identify improvement opportunities for programs and developing and monitoring corrective action plans.
- Resolving regular program issues, including coordinating with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), local officials and other stakeholders to resolve challenges.
- Advising care providers on best practices based on experience, expertise, and research.
- Developing policies, procedures, and training for facilities to fulfill the needs to further the care of unaccompanied children.

**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
**Basic Requirements: You must meet one of the following requirements below**:
**Degree**:You must possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcript)
OR
**Combination of education and experience** that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcript)
OR
**Four years of appropriate experience** that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
**AND**
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement, you must also meet the Specialized Experience below,
- **Specialized Experience GS-12 Level**:You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the difficulty and responsibility to the **GS-11 **level in the Federal service that includes the following:
- Performing child welfare work such as overseeing standards for health care services, reviewing facilities to established best practices to eliminate child abuse and neglect, creating an environment to foster child and adolescent development, or ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
- Assisting with supporting program operations for children and youth
- Providing information on issues such as complex cases needing review, program risks and strengths, case management and discharge trends and/ or other issues with the goal of improving operations and the wellbeing and safety of children,
- Communicating orally or in writing to perform tasks such as coordinating interviews, negotiating issues, delivering presentations, and/or preparing reports.
