DESIGNATION : Contracts Manager, SG
RESPONSIBILITIES
**Position Description**
JERAGM Contracts is part of the JERAGM Legal, Compliance & Contracts team. The Contracts team focuses on the verification of deal details, preparation, review, negotiation and documentation of LNG and Coal contracts as well as Freight charterparties.
As a major player in the global LNG and coal markets, JERAGM enters into a large number of LNG, coal and freight contracts in order to support our commodities business as well as for physical freight trading.
Working through a team of Contracts Specialists based in Singapore and the UK, the Contracts Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient verification, review and documentation of all LNG, coal and freight contracts entered into by JERAGM. The Contracts Manager will also be responsible for the coaching, learning and development of each Contracts Specialist in the Contracts team.
**Key Role Responsibilities**
- Manage a team of 5 Contracts Specialists located in Singapore and the UK, being responsible for coaching and supporting the career development of each member of the Contracts team.
- Establish and implement counterparty physical contract workflow policies and processes.
- Manage operational processes to ensure they are efficient, effective and aligned with organisation guidelines.
- Provide guidance to the Contracts team to support Commercial and Functional teams to manage contracts process and workflow, and or resolution of conflicts or disputes.
- Where appropriate, work closely with JERAGM Legal on any legal or compliance issues which arises during the course of negotiations of contracts and in the development of policies and procedures.
- To review, amend, negotiate and finalise LNG and Coal contracts / confirmation notices and freight charterparties and ensure that the terms in the same reflect both the commercial terms agreed with our external and internal counterparties.
QUALIFICATIONS
**Experience Required**
- In-depth knowledge of the following is essential for this role:
- physical contract transaction cycle, gained within an energy trading environment; and
- energy trading contracts.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, physical freight and shipping terms e.g. demurrage, dispatch, and common shipping acronyms
- At least 8 years’ experience of working directly with the trading and legal functions of an energy trading company
- Preference will be given to someone with the following experience:
- direct energy trading contract management; and
- LNG, coal and/or freight contracts.
**Personal Qualities**
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders at all levels as well as external counterparty representatives.
- Must be well-organised, detail orientated and efficient.
- Must possess a strong commercial outlook.
- Thrives in a fast-paced energy trading environment.
