Singapore MONUMENT INTERNATIONAL LIFE ASSURANCE COMPANY LIMITED (SINGAPORE BRANCH) Full time

This role is for the Branch Manager for the Monument International Life Assurance Company Limited (Singapore Branch). For regulatory purposes, the Branch Manager will be regarded as the “chief executive” of the Singapore Branch.

**The role will cover**:

- The co-ordination of communications and deliverables for the Singapore regulatory and industry authorities, in particular the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The actual production of deliverables will largely be done from the Isle of Man.
- The Singapore Branch Manager will manage all operational and compliance staff in the Singapore office to ensure all customer activities that the Singapore operation team process are done efficiently, effectively and within specified service standards.
- The Singapore Branch Manager will also assist in developing the activities of Monument International in Singapore to deal with all future business opportunities that the Monument group wishes to be performed in the Singapore region.

**RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage all correspondence and information requests that are received and sent to the Singapore authorities and co-ordinate activities required from the IOM office to deliver the required data to the Singapore authorities.

Manage operations and compliance functions in Singapore to ensure the team provides clear, timely and accurate answers to stakeholders and ongoing compliance with regulatory obligations.
- For Operations, this includes second-level checking of correspondence, ensure controls are applied rigorously and ensure the team meets the regulatory and audit requirements. Senior management is expected to bear the general executive responsibility for the day-to-day conduct of business and affairs of the institution, and be ultimately accountable to the board.
- For Compliance, this involves managing the submission of local regulatory and industry body deliverables, which will be prepared and submitted by IOM teams.
- For Fund Administration, this involves coordinating the submission of fund-related updates (e.g. corporate action notices) to regulator and policyholders.

Continuously look at ways the company can improve its processes to ensure the business can handle increased volumes of activities by ensuring an in-depth knowledge of the procedures in maintained.

Actively participate in new business development initiatives for Singapore

Be actively involved in recruiting the right people for the right jobs at the right time.

Conduct regular and timely performance reviews including setting objectives, reviewing progress, identifying training needs and career objectives.

Mentor and develop staff, ensuring training needs are fulfilled including ensuring new employees receive all necessary induction training promptly.

Build a motivated, supportive and effective team environment, including ensuring departmental workloads are well-planned and that staff are not overloaded or under-utilised.

Deal promptly with grievances and disciplinary issues.

Support the Head of Operations and where appropriate, provide cover in their absence.

Signatory on Singapore Capital Bank accounts.

Be a member of the “Singapore Governance Committee”. The Singapore Governance Committee will comprise the CEO, Singapore Branch Manager and the Singapore Compliance Officer, Head of Finance, Head of Compliance, Head of Operation. The Committee will meet monthly.

**ROLE REQUIREMENTS**
- Extensive experience (5+years) working in a Singapore life assurance company;
- Experienced in managing staff;
- Sound knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point);
- Enthusiastic, energetic and entrepreneurial;
- Good communicator with external stakeholders as well as internal stakeholders and colleagues;
- Eager to learn and share knowledge, flexible and open-minded;
- Team player;
- Service minded and solution oriented.
