DESIGNATION : Assistant Director, Clinical Services, MWKLSWC

RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position is for Mrs Wong Kwok Leong Student Wellness Centre (MWKLSWC)
- Counselling Services
- Provides individual and group counselling and psychotherapy for the university community.
- Provides emergency and crisis intervention services.
- Consults with internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate, to assist students.
- Assists with referrals of students to resources on and off campus.
- Peer Helper Coordinator
- Identifies training needs and planning of the training curriculum for the peer helpers.
- Develops and conducts trainings for the peer helpers crisis response team.
- Leads and provides guidance to the peer helper crisis response team in honing their peer helping skills.
- Clinical Counselling Coordinator
- Provides guidance, consultation and training to clinical and support staff on clinical services.
- Scheduling and coordination of group clinical supervision for the team.
- Assists in coordinating psychiatric and other complementary care services for students.
- Advances the Centre's cooperation with internal departments in providing quality services to the school community.
- Fosters and maintains the Centre's connections with community providers of mental health services (e.g. CHAT, FSCs, etc).
- Explores new networking opportunities with local and international institutions of higher learning for exchange of ideas and best practices.
- Training Coordinator
- Provides clinical supervision to the Student Care Officers, Counselling Interns, and volunteer counsellors.
- Oversees selection, training and evaluation of counselling interns.
- Develops training workshops, implements, and evaluates outreach and psycho-educational programs based on SMU's Resilience Framework.
- Drive and lead the development and execution of workshops, training and outreach events for students.
- Counselling Centre’s Administration
- Assist the Head of the Centre in administrative duties, including maintaining the centre’s clinical records/database and preparing reports to stakeholders.
- Professional Counselling Research
- Generates ideas for preparing and doing counselling research and publication.
- Facilitates the preparation of research and publication.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Head of centre

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Master of Counselling or equivalent professional counselling qualifications.
- Minimum 10 years of clinical experience in a diversified environment, with at least 5 years’ experience in providing clinical supervision.
- Preferably a registered counsellor and/or registered clinical supervisor with Singapore Association for Counselling or Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors Singapore or equivalent.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Possess empathy, patience, and passion for working with youths and young adults in a tertiary educational setting.
- Possess a mature disposition and outlook toward clients in an empathic yet objective manner.
- Willingness to adapt to changes and able to work as a team or independently.
- Committed team player, responsible, reliable and able to work with others to achieve the university goals.
- Good co-ordination and organisational skills, able to multitask and work independently within tight timelines.
- Ability and willingness to work beyond office hours and on weekends due to crisis’ needs.
- Experienced in developing and conducting training and workshops.
- Experienced in conducting risk assessment (eg suicide, family violence) and safety planning with clients.
- Ability to generate and develop research ideas, execute research plans and publish research results in good journals.
