Job Introduction
Responsible for devising and implementing PR strategies to raise the profile of BBC Studios in Asia, across branded services, content sales, consumer products, production activities, and partnerships, reinforcing BBC Studios’ position as a premium content company.

Based in Singapore and reporting to the Head of Communications for Asia Pacific, this role takes the lead in promoting the activities of the South, South East, and North East Asia businesses, working alongside the Communications Manager for Greater China and the Communications Manager for Australia & New Zealand, as a cohesive Communications team for the Asia Pacific region.

Main Responsibilities
- In conjunction with Head of Communications Asia Pacific and the General Manager for Asia, identify and set quarterly and annual communications priorities across the region in support of business priorities.
- Implement a strategy that includes corporate, consumer, and internal communications.
- Deliver business-reputational coverage in key markets, including but not limited to press releases, press events, campaigns, influencer activity, interviews, talent visits to market, and speaking opportunities at trade events.
- Build the profile of senior executives in the media and through speaking opportunities so that they can build the reputation of BBC Studios in the region. Provide briefings for senior executives outlining the major BBC, BBCS, and industry issues and research and write speech outlines as necessary.
- Work closely with Head of Communications Asia Pacific and Head of Communications for Global Distribution (based in the UK) to identify and tell Asia stories to UK stakeholders/audiences as required, including around key trade shows, such as BBC Showcase and MIPCOM.
- Develop collaborative working relationships with the relevant teams on major initiatives across sales, branded services, co-production, and production in the region. For branded services, help to drive an uplift in audiences to the suite of BBC channels and streaming services available in Asia through targeted consumer publicity. Work closely with marketing to amplify opportunities.
- Prepare for and manage negative press issues in relevant markets as appropriate.
- Manage PR agencies in key markets ensuring strong ROI - currently India (with input to Taiwan agency relationship for branded services).
- Work closely with PR teams in the UK to identify talent opportunities that will work for the Asia market and help to maximise coverage internationally.
- Build relationships with external stakeholders, including journalists, clients, and affiliate partner communication teams, media, KOLs, trade events, and associations.
- Provide information on Asia business to other teams within BBC Studios, the BBC, plus external users as required. Supply regular internal PR reports as required.

**Essential**
- Proven experience in media relations (5+ years), handling consumer PR campaigns and corporate PR, ideally gained in a TV/media environment.
- Good understanding of the media environment (including social media) and the SE Asia/India/South Korea/Japan media landscape, including key consumer and trade contacts.
- Comfortable in digital as well as traditional media.
- Excellent news sense with ability to write and edit clear and lively media releases and copy.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Understanding of Japanese or Korean a bonus.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop, maintain and enhance relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
- Experience of organising events/press launches and managing talent
- Experience in dealing with sensitive and controversial issues
- Initiative to manage own projects and to lead more junior members of team
- Ability to work to set budgets
