You will also play a key part in advocating for your customers within VMware, sharing their experience and requirements with the account teams, support, engineering and product managers, helping to draw the shape of our products and contributing your point of view for our shared success.

As a Tanzu TAM, you will have the opportunity to specialize in Tanzu technologies and solutions by developing and expanding your deep technical knowledge and skills for related VMware products. You will communicate regularly with customers and use your knowledge of their architecture to develop support plans, upgrade plans, and status reports recognizing their priorities, challenges, initiatives, and potential areas for improvement. You will use your judgment and technical expertise to identify, document, and report issues with design, reliability, and maintenance issues. You will also be able to create a long-term relationship with a small number of assigned customers while developing an understanding of the customer’s technical goals as they align to their business goals and overall impact of VMware’s solutions on business results.

**Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?**

During the first year, you will be onboarded into the Tanzu TAM role and work with your assigned customers.
- The first thing that you will achieve is completing a well-organized 90-day onboarding plan that will be prepared for you.
- You will be assigned a buddy to pair with. We believe shadowing and building team partnerships provides the foundation for a safe and collaborative working environment where team members can thrive.
- You will develop deep technical knowledge and skills for a given VMware Tanzu technology area.
- Three months after engaging with your customers, you will be able to articulate their long-term and short-term goals and how they connect to the bigger picture of their business identifying the gaps that need resolved.
- You will establish a long-term relationship with your customers.
- You will partner with your customers to accelerate their desired outcomes through best practice guidance that enables rapid deployments and adoption of VMware technologies.
- You will educate your customers on emerging technologies and align their technical roadmaps with VMware’s.
- Between six to twelve months from the start of your customer engagement, you will be able to present your mutual accomplishments and deliverables that we will provide to you.
- You will provide project leadership, coordination, and architectural guidance for the customer’s major VMware initiatives.
- You will serve as an advocate for your customer(s), providing clear and constructive product feedback to VMware product management teams based on customer use-cases and requirements.
- If not already certified, you will aim to achieve your Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) to help you achieve your goals and objectives.
