**What the role is**
- The Heritage Policy and Research (HPR) Division of NHB conducts research, documentation on archaeology, tangible heritage and intangible cultural heritage, as well as assessment of heritage buildings, sites and structures. The division works closely with government planning agencies to factor in heritage considerations into the planning processes; and also works with agencies to facilitate consultations and engagement with non-government organisations and heritage interest groups. In addition, the division works on policies and initiatives to uncover Singapore’s archaeology and foster greater interest in our nation’s history.

**Responsibilities**:
We are looking for officers to oversee the work on research, planning and promotion of archaeology and tangible heritage of Singapore. Officer will get to work on various projects and influence Singapore’s heritage preservation efforts. The responsibilities include:

- Coordinate and manage research projects relating to archaeology in Singapore, including managing of outsourced or commissioned research studies;
- Review and formulate policies, legislations and guidelines relating to the conduct of archaeology projects;
- Develop initiatives and programmes to promote greater appreciation and awareness of Singapore’s archaeology and pre-colonial history;
- Work with government, research institutions and/or tertiary institutions to plan and implement archaeology projects;
- Coordinate and manage research and documentation projects on historic buildings and sites, including conducting in-house research and managing outsourced research studies;
- Work with government agencies on development planning related to archaeology sites;
- Advise on licensing requirements and support projects with licensing or other regulatory requirements.
- Engage industry practitioners and stakeholders on heritage-related issues.

**Requirements**:

- Background, preferably in archaeology, history, anthropology or geography;
- Strong interest in history or archaeology;
- Preferably at least 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in the culture and heritage or related sectors such as maritime regulations;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Efficient, organised and highly motivated with the ability to multi-task and work well in a team;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to interact with and manage diverse stakeholders and partners; and,
- Possess strong organisation and time management skills and be versatile at adapting to varying needs of the projects.
