Singapore MHA - Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) Full time

**What the role is**
- Media Relations resides under the Strategic Communications and Media Relations Branch in the Corporate Communications and Service Division. The team largely ensures a coordinated approach towards the execution of media operations for timely and effective response to crisis/hot button issues. The team also focuses on the building of rapport and goodwill with media agencies to enable the effective communication of key narratives that seek to uphold and strengthen public trust and confidence in ICA’s ability to carry out our Mission.

**What you will be working on**
- The job holder will be responsible for co-ordinating and executing media operations duties which includes the facilitation of reporters to ICA premises for filming and fielding appropriate spokespersons as well as providing response to media queries and forum letters on behalf of ICA.
- The job holder will be required to work on individual comms plans for ICA’s new announcements/ initiatives such as the issuance of press releases, radio broadcasts as well as the planning of exclusive features with earned media
- The job holder is responsible for the active monitoring of sentiments on emerging issues and providing assessment on the need for issuance of reactive comms messages or clarifications as well as the preparation of drawer lines to anticipated queries and public reactions.
- The job holder is required to execute crisis communications plans expeditiously and effectively in times of crisis and issue timely response to time-sensitive issues that are gaining traction.
- The job holder is required explore and test tools that are available in the market or adopted by other government agencies / Home Team Departments to enhance ICA’s media monitoring efforts and capabilities.

**What we are looking for**
- The job holder should be a graduate, preferably with a degree in Social or Political Science, Mass Communications or any media related equivalent.
- The job holder should have a pleasant disposition, approachable with excellent interpersonal and communications skills, having to work closely with the various work units, external/local agencies and media.
- The job holder should be a team player and be able to work with his/her peers within the work unit as well as across different work units.
- Given that the nature of media operations is time-sensitive and fast-paced, the job holder has to be quick thinking, resourceful, analytical and able to identify critical issues and respond appropriately to preserve ICA’s narrative and corporate image.
- The job holder should be resourceful, able to work independently and have strong emotional and mental resilience to be able to handle challenging workload and manage deadlines effectively.
