We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.
**JOB PURPOSE**
Lead, supervise and direct a shift team of Chemical Technicians to meet production schedules and targets while maintaining satisfactory standards of quality, cGMP, safety, and Occupational Health.
**WHAT WILL YOU DO**
- Supervise and co-ordinate the production personnel under his charge and ensure that the production schedule, output targets, yield efficiencies and satisfactory quality products are achieved.
- Plan the team's activities to ensure that all processes are adequately manned to achieve the production requirements with mínimal disruption to workflow or process consistency.
- Participate and ensure that process hand-over is conducted in an efficient, clear, and concise manner.
- Process should be hand-over in a safe state as well.
- Effectively communicate company policies, objectives, and results as appropriate.
- Carry out on-the-job training of chemical technicians, incorporating cGMP, SOPs and safety procedures.
- Develop, revise, and review SOPs as needed to cover routine production activities.
- Assist in the recruitment of appropriate qualified staff.
- Take a lead role in their training, development, and motivation in order that they may function as a professional team.
- Verify that each shift delivers process documentation that is thorough and accurate.
- Counsel, handle grievances and conduct appraisal of Chemical Technicians.
- Ensure that the notification and problem resolution process related to production is fully functional.
- Assist in production investigation especially those associated with process deviations.
- Front line to troubleshoot any process _I _equipment problems and to take action to prevent re-occurrence.
- Ensure that the company and departmental procedures, including cGMP, Environmental, Health and safety rules and regulations are complied with by all operations employees, employees outside direct supervision, and visitors to the production areas.
- Take on the responsibility as an on-site representative of management and act as the Site Incident Controller (SIC) during any emergency that might occur after normal working hours.
- Be aware of and promote awareness of the potentially hazardous nature of the chemicals, equipment, and processes in the area, ensuring appropriate precautions are observed.
- Ensure high standard of housekeeping and general facility maintenance in the plant at all times.
- Liaise with maintenance supervisor on all maintenance matters, ensuring that equipment is properly prepared and isolated, that proper permits have been issued and that proper supervision and capabilities are present.
- Ensure that all maintenance activity is coordinated with production plans as far as possible.
- Issue work permits, raise relevant documents as required for all maintenance work. Lead and participate in JSAs. Participate in HAZOPs for modifications of equipment or new technology transfers.
- Participate in internal audit and inspections.
- Develop, revise and review cleaning batch sheets, and other process-related documents.
- Support Production Executive and Process Chemist in projects, technology transfers and other non routine activities.
- Liaise with Quality Control Department with regard to samples and tests, receipt and interpretation of test results, and resolution of inconsistencies.
- Participate in SHE, Business Compliance, cGMP and all other compliance-related matters, where applicable.
- Supervise and oversee Third Party Contractors, where applicable.
- Any other duties as and when assigned by the Manager.
**WHAT YOU MUST HAVE**
**Qualification**:
- NITEC, Higher NITEC or Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Chemical Process Technology
**Experience**:
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience preferably in Pharmaceutical, Chemical or related industry.
- For non-Diploma holders, minimum 8 years of supervisory experience.
- Good understanding of safe working practices and cGMP of a fine chemical plant.
- Good process troubleshooting skills
