**What the role is**
- The Family Justice Courts were established in 2014 by Parliament to bring together all family-related work under a specialised body of courts so as to address the needs of families and youths in distress by framing disputes from their perspectives and in a non-adversarial manner. The mission of the Family Justice Courts is to make justice accessible to families and youth though effective counselling, mediation and adjudication. Come join us to make a difference as: COURT FAMILY SPECIALIST The Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides specialist services within the court system to assist families and the Courts to achieve the best outcomes for families and children at the various stages of court proceedings. Services include: 1. Counselling & mediation services on divorce and child-custody related issues; 2. Family Conferencing and assessments of juvenile offending and child protection cases; 3. Child Custody Evaluation, Children's interviews and assessment reports to Court; 4. Risk assessments and case management in family violence and child protection matters; 5. Research and Evaluation: monitoring trend analysis, initiating research and evaluation of services to inform and recommend appropriate policies and programmes within the Justice System; and 6. Development and management of projects and programmes to support CAPS clinical and case work in areas of divorce and custody-related matter, family violence and child protection matters. High-level written and oral communication skills are required. CAPS officers are required to manage a substantial caseload, including complex cases, within the Courts' case management framework.

**What you will be working on**
- Preparation of reports to the Courts;
- Liaison and consultation on case management with judicial officers, legal representatives and other professionals;
- Provision of advice regarding external support services for children and families;
- Participation in on-going professional supervision and professional development programmes;
- Participation in planning and evaluation of new projects and programmes; and - Administrative and related duties.

**What we are looking for**
- Requirements: - Relevant professional degree, preferably a Masters in psychology, counselling, social work or related field and eligibility for membership with a mental health professional association;
- Minimum 5 years of graduate work experience with couples, families, children and/or juveniles;
- Experience in areas of custody evaluations, forensic assessments or mediation and conciliation will be advantageous;
- Experience in research settings and project management will be an asset;
- A good team player who possesses good research and statistical skills, report writing and effective interpersonal skills;
