JOB TITLE: Assistant Strategy & Insights Manager, Global Procurement

Schaffhausen and Singapore are the two key Procurement’s global hubs which lead strategy and are home to the global portfolio teams such as Packaging, Chemicals, Naturals, MBS, and Sustainable Sourcing.

PROCUREMENT STRATEGY & INSIGHTS

The Procurement Strategy & Insights Team serves as the nerve centre of the Unilever global procurement organization, which enables the procurement organization to design and deliver step-change across the procurement value chain, operating process, and business model. This team is responsible for:

- Sensing and incubating innovative ideas, new business models & transformation programs for value creation as UPLT partners
- Enabling transformation programs, facilitating upskilling of employees, and developing strategy with respective portfolio VPs and PCLF members
- Identifying and scaling up best practices across the global procurement organization

MAIN JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Data Strategy & Digital Lead / Manager, the purpose of this role is:

- Utilizing data to drive future-fit procurement strategy and to create value in competitive buying, portfolio strategy development, resilience & partnership.
- Enable data and insights-driven business decisions.
- Build strategic partnership with other data and digital team across Unilever Organization (e.g. D&A, R&D, Plan)
- Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies for partnerships in market intelligence and competitive buying

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Co-own Data Strategy:

- Identify, transform, and connect all procurement relevant data
- Ensure consistent and trusted data across Procurement Organization
- Democratize data for self-service analytics and insights generation
- Support Sourcing Team on Business Intelligence and Advance Analytics for value creation

Strategic Business Partnering:

- Work closely with business and/or procurement stakeholders to understand their goals and determine how data can be used to achieve those goals
- Lead the Insights creation from available data and drive digitalization, based on a good understanding of the data architecture and guiding the mining process, for portfolio strategy development and decision making
- Lead Future-fit Digital Product development for Global Procurement. Overall project management for digital initiatives / solutions in collaboration with other Strategy & Insights team members

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

- B.S. or M.S. in a relevant technical field
- 3-5 years’ related experience in a procurement role either in Unilever / FMCG industry or in a large complex organisation with strong portfolio and market expertise
- Business and commercial acumen
- Strong analytical skills, able to make sense of large amounts of data and market intelligence
- Familiarity with basic relational databases, SQL, and data lake ecosystem
- Experience with analysis tools like R, Python is a plus
- Expert knowledge with data visualization software like Microsoft Power BI is a plus
- Ability and drive to work independently and across virtual teams
- Experience of working in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment - both F2F and virtually
- Strong critical thinking, analytical and story-telling skills to respond to multiple market/portfolio specific characteristics and influence change remotely
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and peers effectively
