Why this role?
The Area Major Project PMO Manager drives area’s project management capability to achieve and maintain competitive advantage through excellence in customer project management. The role will collaborate closely with the countries PMO, project managers, order administrators, project administrators, quantity surveyors and/or project planners.
The person will monitor and support delivery project and portfolio management, project execution and portfolio performance in the APAC, Middle East, Africa and Turkey. Responsible for running or supporting portfolio governance, planning, forecasting and reporting for a specific part of the portfolio, support Sales in developing winning tenders for specific opportunities, and support the planning, execution and governance of selected delivery projects.
What will you be doing?
Safety and Quality
- Proactively drive safety and quality performance of the project portfolio within the scope of responsibility
Customers
- Establish and promote service-minded culture and outside-in thinking in customer project management, and drive the adaptation of best practices related to customer journey and customer experience management
- Capture and feed Voice of Customer throughout the customer project; especially related to how KONE manages the project
Program and project management
- Develop project management capability within the FL/area/countries
- Measure, monitor and support project portfolio planning, forecasting and execution
- Facilitate portfolio governance
- Support selected projects in tender development and project planning, execution and governance
- Optimize project management resources and their allocation across the portfolio
- Support and coach project managers, perform project reviews
Leadership and people development
- Lead and develop the PMO team and project management professionals to achieve budget, safety, quality and customer satisfaction goals. Identify and address competence development needs for project managers, planners, project and order admins, and quantity surveyors
- Contribute to Delivery Operations strategic planning and decision-making to drive project management capabilities in line with the unit’s/area’s overall vision and business objectives
Delivery Operations management
- Work with other Delivery Operations staff and teams to ensure correct and consistent use of project management policy, processes and tools, and appropriate resource allocation to support this
Business performance
- Measure and monitor project portfolio performance, identify improvement opportunities and drive actions to improve business performance
- Set targets for and manage the performance of the PMO team
- Establish PMO budget and monitor customer service, safety, quality and financial performance to optimize resources and prioritize investments
- Provide input and feedback about changes needed to KONE Way
Are you the one?
- At least 10 years of experience as Project Manager for specifically large-scale projects and not just volume (small projects in the mass market) projects.
- Customer relationship management skills and experience
- Customer project management and portfolio management skills and experience
- Knowledge of construction industry contracts, business practices and their management
- Financial, business and process management knowledge
- Basic knowledge of installation methods and site management
- Experience and feel comfortable working in a matrix environment, ability to influence stakeholder, develop strong collaboration to move projects forward.
- Experience in project management forecasting, cash flow management and understanding the risks and opportunities within projects.
- Ability to coach project managers in FL/countries.
- Knowledgeable and proficient in project management tools.
