The Talent Development and Programming (TDP) unit plays a major role in CFA’s mission to integrate the arts into every aspect of university life including facilitating opportunities for arts-based learning in a range of faculties while concurrently formalising programmes for arts training and expanding thinking through the processes of conceptualisation and creation of artistic works. It provides opportunities for arts appreciation, champions creative possibilities and inspires strong communities in and around NUS.

TDP oversees 20 student arts excellence groups in music, dance, theatre and film. It provides training in leadership, artistic skills and production management for the 20 groups and extends opportunities for training in production management as well as performance opportunities. TDP also produces arts programmes that enliven the campus experience, such as the NUS Arts Festival and the ExxonMobil Campus Concerts.

As Manager for Talent Development and Programming, he/ she will provide support for Senior Associate Director, TDP in the areas of developing interdisciplinary collaborations between the groups, encouraging faculty engagements, creating initiatives to further develop leadership skills in the members and propose ways in which administrative efficiency can be enhanced.

The incumbent manages four CFA arts groups, including The NUSChoir, NUS Jazz Band, NUS Chinese Drama and NUS Guitar Ensemble, with a view to expanding their artistic growth while supervising day-to-day areas of recruitment and retention, training, rehearsals, productions and external engagements. With the current direction from NUS CFA towards greater broad-based learning, he/she will guide the students to deepen critical thinking skills through conferences, workshops and masterclasses and to contribute to a digital content platforms within NUS. As a manager, he/she will also be expected to provide mentorship for CFA interns and students who are Performing Visual Arts Scholars.

The incumbent will support the Programming team to produce and execute shows for the ExxonMobil Campus Concert Series and NUS Arts Festival, working with the Festival Director as part of the Festival Secretariat.

As part of the drive for administrative efficiency, the incumbent will also oversee the management of processes of procurement, contracting and student management systems.Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, Talent Development and Assistant Director, Talent Development, the responsibilities of the Manager, Talent Development/ Programming Division are as follows:
To actively contribute to the development of artistic discourse in CFA and encourage the integration of the arts into other disciplines of study by working with other NUS departments, engaging with arts professionals, and nurturing students to create programmes, initiatives, forums, workshops and masterclasses and digital learning content.

To manage four CFA Groups namely The NUSChoir, NUS Jazz Band, NUS Chinese Drama and NUS Guitar Ensemble

overseeing the day-to-day administration of the groups, including rehearsals, meetings and workshops as well as annual exercises such as recruitment through the Student Life Fair and elections of the executive committee, providing advice and direction for their annual work plans, as well as liaising with the tutors to advance in artistic standardsguiding and coaching in show planning, financial management and production managementidentifying and grooming members of these groups with the potential to lead to manage other artistic endeavours in the future

To assist in the planning and execution of programmes within the arts calendar of NUS Centre For the Arts, in particular the ExxonMobil Campus Concerts Series and the NUS Arts Festival.

To network and liaise with external partners, arts professionals, and key stakeholders to develop collaborative projects and initiatives with CFA Groups. This would include relevant Alumni Groups and cultural networks in Singapore and the region.

To support the development of mentorship and internship programmes for CFA, including the Performing Visual Arts Scholarship programme.

To oversee TDP’s administration process in management of contracts, procurement and the coordination and centralisation of information and databases in student management systems such as Teams, NUSync and nBox.Requirements

Basic Degree in Humanities, Arts or Social Sciences, Arts Management and/or Education 5-7 years relevant experience in student development in areas of artistic development, event management or the programming of festivals.
