Job Summary:
The HSSE Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of ISM, ISPS, MLC, health, safety, security, and environmental, regulatory and legislative compliance on oil tankers, with a focus on TMSA implementation and adherence. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing HSSE policies, documentation, conducting audits, and fostering a safety culture among crew members. This position will also require you to be the DPA and CSO for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

- *ISM / ISPS implantation -*TMSA Implementation*: Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the TMSA program, ensuring compliance with its elements and conducting regular assessments.
- *Policy Development*: Create and implement HSSE policies and procedures in alignment with TMSA requirements, regulatory obligations, and company standards.
- *Risk Assessment*: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards, aligning findings with TMSA benchmarks.
- *Training and Development*: Develop and deliver HSSE training programs focused on TMSA compliance and safety awareness for crew members.
- *Incident Investigation*: Lead investigations into safety incidents and near misses, documenting findings in line with TMSA protocols and recommending improvements.
- *Regulatory Compliance*: Ensure compliance with international regulations, maintain a legal register and TMSA / Sire / BIRE requirements concerning oil tanker operations.
- *Emergency Preparedness*: As DPA / CSO will require to develop and test emergency response plans, ensuring crew readiness for oil spills, fires, and other emergencies, in accordance with TMSA standards.
- *Environmental Management*: Monitor environmental performance and ensure adherence to waste management and pollution prevention practices, reflecting TMSA goals.
- *Reporting and Documentation*: Maintain accurate records of HSSE performance, incidents, training, and audits, providing regular reports to senior management, including TMSA-related metrics.
- *Stakeholder Engagement*: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and industry organizations, to promote best practices in HSSE and TMSA compliance.
- *Conduct Internal audits and inspection and look for ways to implement continual improvement

Qualifications:

- *Education*: Minimum COC Class 2 or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- *Experience*: Minimum sailing as Senior officer on ocean going vessels preferably tankers and or 5-7 years of experience in HSSE roles within the maritime or oil and gas industry, with a focus on oil tankers and TMSA.
- *Certifications*: Relevant certifications are highly desirable.
- *Skills*: Able to work independently, strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills. Proficient in risk assessment tools, safety management systems, and TMSA frameworks.
