Cargo Technician

Overall Job Purpose:
Responsible for effectively controlling and maintaining all lifesaving appliances. Execute all Cargo Operations on board the FPSO in a safe and efficient manner as per Cargo Supervisor or Marine Superintendent instructions. Cargo Technician is required to possess a high standard of leadership, strong supervisory skills and key safety behaviors. Ensure that all aspects of Cargo and Cargo Utility systems operations and supervision are carried out effectively. The Cargo Technician assumes delegated authority for marine activities under the Cargo Supervisor and/or Marine Superintendent as required.

Core Responsibilities:
Advise and assist the Marine Superintendent / Cargo Supervisor on all marine related activities as required, such as but not limited to cargo handling and ballasting operations.

Ensure Inventory of SOPEP material taken every week and minimum quantity of SOPEP material is maintained onboard at all time;
Maintain communication with other departments regarding work priorities and operational requirements to minimize delay;
Ensure that all marine related operations are executed within the parameters established by regulatory

authorities, MODEC’s HSEQ Policies and Procedures, MODEC’s Marine Operations Manual, IMO, ISM Code, MARPOL, SOLAS and Local Labor requirements;
Ensure Inventory for cargo sling onboard is taken weekly and update lifting gear register as required;
Controlling and maintaining all lifesaving appliances, with assistance from Marine Crew as required

Perform maintenance activities within the limits of training and experience. Operate when required under permit to work system. Following company policies and procedures. Follow instructions of Cargo Supervisor and Marine Superintendent.

Understand all job instructions or standing orders issued by Cargo Supervisor or Marine Superintendent. Carry out work in a safe and responsible manner. Adhere to requirements and provisions of the MODEC Safety Management Systems;
Participate in the effective monitoring, audit and review of management systems and procedures;
Clearly understands MODEC HSEQ policies, as well as the HSEQ Roles and Responsibilities offshore.

Perform Emergency Response Role as required by the Facility Emergency Response Plan and Muster Bill

Contribute to the health and safety of the working environment by monitoring and maintaining all equipment relating to pollution prevention.

Take positive actions to stop hazards and unsafe behaviors by making sure that potential and actual incidents are

reported to the relevant supervisor. In addition, report defects immediately and effectively;
Assist with confined space entry operations.

Understudy Cargo Supervisor and take over from him when required or delegated;
Ensure that unplanned discharges are identified, stopped as soon as possible, and reported following policy, procedures and regulations. In addition, deal with equipment, waste or other materials for disposal in accordance with procedures in place.

Demonstrate ownership and responsibility of personnel development ensuring all training requirements are kept valid. Proactively arrange training to ensure it is renewed in time as per MODEC Integrated Management System.

the policies, guides, process standards and work instructions available in the Integrated Management System (IMS).

Support team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices.

Actively participate and/or contribute toward defect elimination/system ownership focus groups, with a view to provide onshore teams with first-hand knowledge of the offshore facility.

Be familiar with the Facility’s plant and machinery and leading by example ensure their safe operation and maintenance.

Have good knowledge of safety requirements including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, company policy and instructions.
