
Assistant Manager/senior Executive, Choral

The SSO Choral Programmes, consists of 3 Performing ensembles: Singapore Symphony Chorus (SSC), Singapore Symphony Youth Choir (SSYC) and the Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir (SSCC); and 7 SSCC Training Wing ensembles.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
The Assistant Manager/Senior Executive, Choral Programmes reports to the Manager, Choral Programmes. He/She will coordinate all choral activities including overseeing general administration and operations, as well as support the Manager in the calendar planning process as part of building the season calendar. The Assistant Manager role includes overseeing the management of choral interns, accompanists and assistants.
**General administration**
- Supervises the general administration of membership for the choruses
- Manages internal and external stakeholder communication with choristers and their families, venues and vendors
- Oversees the administration of staff payroll and choral finances
- Manages the administration of choral bursaries and financial assistance schemes
- Implements and revises choral policies when required
- Attends to event enquiries for the choruses
**Programming**
- Manages the scheduling and booking of spaces for rehearsals, auditions and concerts
- Administers and negotiates the commission of composers for new choral works
- Manages invitations to vocal soloists and guest conductors for choral workshops
- Primary planner of choral outreach programmes e.g. The SSCC Experience, SSCC Auditions, The SSC Affair and internal presentation programmes e.g. SSCC x SNYS Presentation Concert
- Assists in preparing the department’s annual budget
**Staffing**
- Manages the training and development of interns, accompanists and part-time assistants
**Rehearsal & Concert Production**
- Oversees merchandise supplies and procurement e.g. costumes, uniforms and stationery
- Oversees the preparation of technical specifications & requirements for all rehearsals/concerts in consultation with the conductors
- Supervises stage management duties for all rehearsals and concerts, and general backstage logístical duties
**Other Key Responsibilities**
- Manages choral marketing efforts to build brand awareness
- Contributes articles and assist in publications
- Corresponds with members and parents on key matters
- Oversees the general administration of the choral department
**REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimum Diploma and above with 3 years of working experience preferably in a related field
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends
- Good command of spoken English and Mandarin to liaise with stakeholders
- Effective oral/written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; familiarity with other design-related software skills e.g. Canva, Photoshop, LightRoom would be added advantage
- Applicants must enjoy working and be able to communicate with a wide range of age groups
- Team player and flexible in working well with different personalities
- While having formal music qualifications is not a pre-requisite, training and experience in performance, music education, or community arts will be advantageous
