**Summary of the Position**

The Head of Airfreight is responsible for overseeing and managing all operational aspects of the company’s airfreight services and working closely with the regional team. This includes ensuring the smooth execution of import and export airfreight processes, maintaining strong carrier and vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with international regulations, driving operational efficiency & service excellence. The role focuses on operational leadership, regulatory compliance, cost control, team development, and full P&L accountability for the Airfreight division

**Responsibilities**

1. Strategic Planning:

- Contributing to the development and implementation of the overall airfreight strategy aligning with regional office.

2. Airfreight Operations Management
- Oversee & work closely with airfreight operations in-charge
- Ensure timely, accurate, and cost-efficient handling of shipments in line with customer expectations and service standards.
- Provide directions on space bookings management, cargo handling, transit tracking, and delivery schedules.

3. Carrier & Vendor Management
- Negotiate with airlines and ground handling agents for rates, capacity, and service agreements.
- Monitor service provider performance and ensure delivery of contracted service levels.

4. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure full compliance with international airfreight regulations (e.g. IATA,ICAO, CAAS) and local customs laws.
- Oversee documentation processes including airway bills, permits, customs declarations, and billing accuracy.
- Ensure all operational procedures comply with internal SOPs and quality standards.

5. Cost Control & Performance Monitoring
- Monitor and manage operational costs to maintain or improve profitability.
- Analyze cost trends and identify areas for operational savings and efficiency improvements.
- Track and report on key operational metrics such as shipment accuracy, turnaround time, and carrier performance.

6. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and supervise the airfreight operations team and work closely with regional team
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure high standards of operational competency.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in airfreight operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of international airfreight processes, customs clearance, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent coordination and problem-solving skills with an eye for operational detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with stakeholders and service providers.
- Proficient in airfreight systems, freight software, and Microsoft Office tools.
