DESIGNATION : Editorial Assistant, Shenzhen Bureau (2-Year contract)

RESPONSIBILITIES

CNA is seeking a full-time Editorial Assistant at its Shenzhen Bureau.

The successful candidate's primary role is to carry out administrative work to maintain the smooth functioning of the bureau and, when time permits, support the correspondent with editorial tasks and field operations.

Administrative responsibilities

  • Manage bureau finances and payments, file monthly expense report
  • Manage legal and financial records
  • Manage logistics of work tripsand on-location filming
  • Manage applications for accreditation and registration for events
  • Source for filming locations and obtain permits if necessary
  • Manage hiring and payment of freelancers when required
  • Source for and work with vendors and contractors to get good services and prices
  • Manage leave schedule and balance for all staff
  • Maintain a conducive office environment
  • Handle paperwork for the following in consultation with the bureau cameraman and correspondent:
    • Bureau's fixed assets, fittings, office, camera and studio equipment
    • Service contracts

Editorial responsibilities

  • Monitor local language and English media news daily for developing and breaking news and upcoming events
  • Research content, source for and set up interviews for news stories
  • Transcribe interviews
  • Monitor and take notes from news conferences
  • Translate news materials and interviews as needed Edit simple videos on request


QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements

  • Relevant degree or diploma
  • Work experience in media preferred
  • Experience in administrative work, detail-oriented and possess excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to navigate multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to travel as needed
  • Interest in and good knowledge of current affairs in China
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Mandarin. Additional language will be a plus
  • Knowledge of basic video editing and filming is an advantage
  • This position will be based in Shenzhen
