Role: Technical Founder in Residence We seek a visionary technical founder to lead the development of our breakthrough NDT sensing and analysis platform from laboratory concept to market-ready solution. You'll drive technical strategy, R&D innovation, product architecture, and team formation for a complex hardware-software system. Working closely with researchers, customers, and industry experts, you'll transform cutting-edge technology into robust, user-centric solutions that redefine industry standards. Most importantly, you possess the entrepreneurial mindset to navigate uncertainty, pivot strategically, and create innovative solutions under pressure. What You'll Do Own the technical vision for our core NDT platform — an integrated sensing system with AI-driven defect analysis capabilities Drive technology innovation across hardware and software — improving precision, reliability, automation, and field deployment Lead R&D partnerships with researchers and institutions to solve fundamental NDT engineering challenges Design and validate prototypes from proof-of-concept to production-ready inspection systems Collaborate with pilot customers to ensure product-market alignment and real-world validation in industrial inspection Architect for scale — ensuring technical decisions support manufacturability, compliance, and global deployment Secure technical capital through grants, strategic partnerships, and investor relationships Navigate uncertainty with resilience — leading through ambiguity, iteration, and calculated risks What We're Looking For 10+ years in hardware product development, preferably 0-to-1 ventures Strong technical foundation in systems engineering, applied physics, mechatronics, or related fields Hands-on expertise with sensors, control systems, precision mechanics, and/or advanced instrumentation Proven leadership as founder, CTO, or technical lead in early-stage deep-tech companies Cross-functional experience leading teams spanning hardware, software, and data science Entrepreneurial resilience — demonstrated ability to handle setbacks and drive breakthrough innovation Track record of taking complex technical products from concept to market Highly Valued Experience Non-destructive testing (NDT)— ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, or advanced optical methods Industrial sensing technologies — optics, lasers, imaging systems, or precision measurement Customer-centric innovation — translating technical capabilities into market solutions Regulatory experience with industrial standards and certifications (ISO, ASTM, etc.)Technical stack familiarity — computer vision, real-time systems, hardware-software co-design Industry networks in deep tech, manufacturing, or industrial automation Founder mindset — understanding of startup risks, equity, and venture building Why This Role?Shape the technical DNA of a new venture backed by credible investors to solve critical industrial challenges Access elite networks of researchers, investors, and industry leaders Build global impact — solutions deployed across energy, aerospace, infrastructure, and manufacturing Significant equity stake in a fast-scaling deep-tech venture Culture of innovation — valuing technical rigor, creative problem-solving, and bold thinking Employment details Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Job function Information Technology, Product Management, and Manufacturing Industries Industrial Machinery Manufacturing, Software Development, and Repair and Maintenance #J-18808-Ljbffr
