Our client is seeking a
Head of Software Engineering and Architecture
to join their founding team. In this strategic role, you'll be responsible for designing and scaling secure, cloud-native platforms, leading end-to-end software development, and shaping the technology architecture to support mission-critical digital solutions—particularly in the public sector.
You will lead a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, and DevOps professionals while working closely with the leadership team to turn vision into execution. This is an opportunity to build high-impact systems from the ground up in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
What You'll Do
Define and implement the company's software engineering strategy and architectural roadmap.
Build scalable, resilient platforms with a focus on security, integration (APIs), and public sector compliance.
Lead Agile/DevSecOps software development practices and delivery pipelines.
Hire, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of engineers and technical architects, both in-house and outsourced.
Translate business and product requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
Ensure system quality, availability, and performance across all releases.
Drive adoption of emerging technologies such as AI/ML, data analytics, and automation where applicable.
Maintain system documentation, architecture blueprints, and promote engineering knowledge sharing.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
At least
15 years of experience in software engineering , with
5+ years in a senior technical leadership role .
Proven track record in software architecture and engineering leadership, ideally in
startups, scaleups, or SaaS .
Deep hands-on experience with
cloud-native technologies
(AWS, Azure, or GCP), microservices, APIs, and CI/CD.
Solid understanding of public sector technology needs, compliance, and integration standards.
Strong team-building skills with experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Ability to balance innovation with execution in resource-constrained environments.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with product, business, and operations.
Nice to Have
Experience in
GovTech, civic tech, regtech , or working with
regulated environments .
Familiarity with
GovStack, national digital identity systems , or government service platforms.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as
MAS TRM, PDPA , or similar.
