The Business Development Manager – Research Partnerships will play a strategic role in advancing the medical school's research mission by identifying, cultivating, and managing collaborative opportunities with industry, government agencies, academic institutions, and nonprofit organizations. This role is key to expanding the school's research portfolio, attracting external funding, and driving innovation through multidisciplinary partnerships.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and implement a strategic plan for research-focused partnerships aligned with institutional goals.
Serve as the main point of contact for core facilities, including leading their annual budget review exercise and acting as the liaison between the cores and research office management.
Lead strategic planning for the cores by conducting scans and compiling business intelligence to enhance visioning and forecasting.
Requirements
A good degree in life sciences. A higher degree (Masters/PhD) is an advantage but not essential.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of research administration; prior experience with sales techniques is an advantage.
Proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
Proven ability to plan and manage resources.
A self-starter with the ability to work with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.
