About Engineering Good
Engineering Good (EG) is a non-profit organisation based in Singapore, founded in 2014. Through social innovation initiatives, we endeavour to support disadvantaged and special needs communities. Our work focuses on two main areas: Digital Inclusion and Assistive Technology.
- Digital Inclusion
- Assistive Technology (AT)
Our Impact
- 10,000+ laptops refurbished and distributed
- 28,000+ kg of e-waste diverted from landfills
- 2,000+ assistive tech devices created
- over 400 community partners served
If you are also passionate about making a difference and want to be part of this supportive and innovative community, we invite you to join us in empowering those who need it most.
Job Purpose
In 2014, Engineering Good was started by a group of engineers who wanted to use their skills for good. They encountered an opportunity to build assistive devices, as well as create accessible toys for children with disabilities. Assistive devices on the market are often costly and not specific to individual and unique needs. Plus, there were many unmet challenges in the community.
Today, Engineering Good is a community of engineers, technologists, tinkerers and makers coming together to tackle problem statements directly from the community. The projects are made open-source so that they remain affordable, accessible and sustainable beyond EG's support; people can customise them to their own needs and develop them further, too Along the way, problem solvers can learn about the different disability communities and how to design for them directly from the users.
As the Manager for Assistive Technology Programme, you will play a critical role in running and managing the day-to-day operations of our flagship AT programmes:
- Tech For Good Accelerator - training youths to develop AT solutions through participatory design
- Tech For Good Makers - training disability sector professionals and caregivers to develop and implement AT solutions
- Bespoke Projects - ad-hoc AT projects addressing the needs of the disability community
- EG Makerspace - a space for technical volunteers to exchange skills and knowledge to develop AT solutions
As an ambassador for Engineering Good, you will champion our mission to use technology to make things possible for persons with disabilities.
