Sales Application Engineer
Role Positioning and Objectives
The Sales Application Engineer plays a critical role in bridging customer technical requirements with the company’s product solutions. This role handles customer inquiries via phone, email, or website, assists with product selection and sizing by industry applications, provides technical support to sales, customers, and internal stakeholders, manages CRM leads to opportunities, supports sales activities, and analyzes sales data to ensure an efficient, accurate, and customer-focused sales process.
Core Responsibilities
Handle customer inquiries, identify industry and end-user details, and assign inquiries to appropriate sales engineers based on classification rules.
Understand technical requirements, perform product sizing and selection, and determine product models for quotations.
Provide technical support and problem-solving services via phone, email, or on-site visits.
Use company software to select quote items, prepare quotations, and support the sales team.
Create and manage leads in CRM, converting technical discussions into sales opportunities.
Manage Steam Trap Surveys and Service Reports, coordinating follow-up and quotations.
Master product manuals and prepare technical sheets, installation and maintenance instructions, and sales brochures for sales or customer needs.
Select products for MRO, contractor, or EPC projects, and prepare technical and commercial proposals aligned with customer requirements and company policies.
Perform product selection, sizing, and design, and develop applications meeting customer specifications.
Utilize Power BI to analyze sales data, identify opportunities, and support business growth.
Coordinate inquiries with supply sites and support the bidding and purchasing processes.
Assist in selecting sub-vendors and defining their scope of work.
Support new product releases and sales documentation.
Assist sales, support, and purchase teams with certification and reporting needs.
Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Skills / Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with solution design using 2D/3D modeling software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities under time pressure.
Knowledge of Spirax products, applications, and systems.
Experience with steam system design standards (e.g., PESR, EN 13480).
Proven experience in a similar industry or role, especially in customer-facing positions.
Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
