The Role: VP of Hospitality (Business Development)
We are looking for an experienced individual to join their team with a specific geographic mandate, a core set of responsibilities and capabilities. This role will report directly to senior leadership and act as a pivotal link between the ownership, brand partners, and project teams.
Responsibilities:
Identify, evaluate, and secure new hospitality development and acquisition opportunities within the assigned geographical market (Singapore/Indonesia or Australia).
Lead complex negotiations for Hospitality Management Agreements (HMAs), joint ventures, and other strategic partnerships. Act as a strong negotiator to achieve optimal terms for the ownership group.
Proactively engage with major international operators while maintaining the flexibility to work effectively with any potential partner. Manage these relationships at a senior level to ensure alignment with the owner’s long-term objectives.
Leverage prior experience with small-scale HMA issuance under your own brand to inform deal structure and protect owner interests in new agreements.
Clearly and compellingly articulate business objectives, investment theses, and value creation strategies to internal stakeholders and potential partners.
Serve as the Owner’s Representative for ongoing projects, including managing the current renovation project in the portfolio and driving expansion in priority markets.
Immediately manage the successful execution and expansion of projects in respective countries.
The ideal candidates must demonstrate a significant blend of commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and hospitality development experience.
Essential Experience and Skills Required:
A Degree/Masters in Hospitality/Hotel Management, BA, Real Estate, Finance or Economics.
A highly accomplished BD leader with a proven track record in the hospitality sector.
Highly effective at deal origination and strategic negotiations that secure complex partnerships. Expertise spans the full development cycle: branding, revenue strategy, and asset management.
Significant experience driving deals and issuing HMAs (on either an owner-brand or operator side). Must be adept at working collaboratively and critically with all major international hotel operators.
Deep understanding of the specific market dynamics, regulatory environment, and competitive landscape in Singapore, Indonesia and/or Australia.
Driven to maximize owner value through strategic negotiation and the cultivation of crucial, lasting partnerships.
Ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships, both internal and external with tact and influence.
Capable of creating and delivering clear, concise, and compelling business presentations and proposals.
A proactive mindset focused on identifying new opportunities and driving aggressive but sustainable brand and portfolio expansion.
