Responsibilities
Assist department head to control and monitor departmental costs on an ongoing basis to ensure performance against budget.
Prepare and
cook
food according to recipes and standards; prepare and serve hot and cold beverages and foods using prescribed SOP.
Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations; display presentation and garnishing of cooked food; station setup according to production charts.
Prepare station setup and ingredients; simple preparation of food ingredients in a hygienic manner (e.g., wash & cut, etc.).
Assist in preparing ingredients such as garlic, ginger, chili, and herbs; portion and plate steamed, roasted, or poached items according to guidelines.
Prepare meals in accordance with portion and quality standards specified in recipes.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety at all times.
Prepare and cook food according to recipes and standards; support the senior cook to manage kitchen operations and ensure high-quality food.
Food preparation: prepare and cook a variety of items following establishment recipes; manage ingredient preparation and station end-to-end.
Inventory: take responsibility for ordering certain inventory types when needed.
Qualifications
Min 5 years' experience as North Indian cook; good knowledge of Indian spices and masala.
Able to work on shift duties, weekends and public holidays.
Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of experience in the culinary department, or equivalent combination; certificate in culinary arts preferred.
Must be able to carry or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds; move around the kitchen; handle food, objects, products and utensils.

What we need from you
Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of experience in the culinary department, or equivalent combination of education and culinary/kitchen operations experience. Certificate in culinary arts preferred.
Health and safety: be aware of OH&S policies and procedures; operate equipment safely; adhere to occupational health and safety legislations; log safety incidents as required.
Communicate with supervisor on difficulties, guest or internal customer feedback, and other relevant information.
