We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as an Educational Interpreter. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with hearing loss by providing communication accessibility through the medium of Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) in a mainstream school environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpretation skills, have achieved SgSL Course Level 3 or at least SEE2 Advanced Stage, and hold a diploma or degree in any field. Relevant qualifications and experience in teaching are preferred, as well as experience interacting with the Deaf community.

This is a full-time contract position with potential for renewal. As an Educational Interpreter, you will be responsible for interpreting English language to and from SgSL for lessons, school activities, and programmes. You will also work with school management to review and improve school systems and processes in support of students with hearing loss.

To succeed in this role, you must be able to modify and align teaching strategies to suit the needs of students with hearing loss, provide consultation and build capacity of teachers and other school personnel, conduct and/or organize workshops for parents and families of students with hearing loss, and attend and participate in meetings and events.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing interpretation services for lessons and school activities
  • Modifying teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with hearing loss
  • Working with school management to improve school systems and processes
  • Providing consultation and training to teachers and school personnel
  • Conducting and organizing workshops for parents and families
  • Attending and participating in meetings and events
