Legal Director

About the Role We are seeking an experienced and strategic Legal Director to oversee and lead all legal functions for our U.S. operations and contribute to global legal strategy. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing guidance on complex legal, regulatory, and compliance issues while driving cross‑border collaboration with our headquarters and international teams. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned legal executive with a strong grasp of the technology and gaming industries, exceptional leadership and communication skills, and the ability to anticipate risks while enabling innovation and growth. Key Responsibilities Strategic Legal Leadership Lead and manage all legal operations in the United States, including corporate, commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters. Act as the legal advisor to U.S. senior management and global headquarters on strategic and operational decisions. Develop and implement legal policies, processes, and risk management frameworks aligned with global standards and business objectives. Proactively identify emerging legal and regulatory trends impacting the gaming and internet sectors, ensuring the company remains ahead of the curve. Commercial & Regulatory Oversight Oversee and negotiate complex commercial transactions, including partnerships, licensing, M&A, and technology agreements. Provide expert counsel on regulatory compliance in areas such as advertising, data protection, consumer protection, employment, and digital content. Drive initiatives related to data privacy, AI governance, trust and safety, and child/minor protection compliance within the U.S. and across global markets. Support internal audits, investigations, and dispute resolution where necessary. Cross‑Functional & Global Collaboration Collaborate closely with HQ Legal and other regional legal teams to align cross‑border initiatives and ensure consistent compliance and governance. Partner with business units, HR, finance, and product teams to support company‑wide strategic projects and risk assessments. Manage relationships with external counsel, ensuring efficient and cost‑effective legal support. Leadership & Team Development Build and lead a high‑performing legal team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities. Champion a culture of compliance, integrity, and proactive legal engagement throughout the organization. Deliver internal legal training and promote awareness of key regulatory and contractual obligations. Qualifications J.D. from an accredited university ; active license to practice law in California (or another U.S. jurisdiction with significant California experience). 10+ years of relevant legal experience , including at least 3 years in a leadership or senior management role. Proven experience in the gaming, technology, or entertainment sectors with exposure to global operations. Deep knowledge of U.S. commercial, data privacy, employment, and consumer protection laws. Experience managing regulatory issues related to AI, online platforms, and digital content is highly desirable. Prior experience coordinating international legal matters and leading global teams is a strong plus.
