Job purpose

The Technical Sales Manager promotes Harris Pye's engineering solutions and services within the Marine & Offshore sector. This role requires a strong technical background to engage with clients on complex solutions, combined with a commercial mindset to support business growth.

The selected candidate will identify market opportunities, build lasting client relationships, and drive sales by aligning client needs with Harris Pye's offerings. The role reports directly to the General Manager – Offshore & Marine and contributes to both strategic sales development and technical delivery.

Key accountabilities

Technical

  • Understand and explain technical details of Harris Pye's services and products, including modifications, repairs, and engineering solutions.
  • Act as a technical advisor during client meetings, proposals, and negotiations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to prepare customized technical solutions based on client specifications.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and technical assessments as part of the sales process.
  • Support in the preparation and review of technical documentation for bids and proposals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and technologies.
  • Assist in identifying new service offerings based on client and market feedback.
  • Monitor and report on market trends and competitor activity.

Commercial & Managerial

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in line with company strategy.
  • Build and manage relationships with key clients, representatives, and partners.
  • Prepare and present commercial proposals, ensuring alignment with technical capabilities.
  • Negotiate and close deals in collaboration with the projects delivery team and General Manager.
  • Meet defined sales targets and KPIs while ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Represent the company at exhibitions, trade shows, and client meetings.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecast through CRM tools.
  • Provide feedback to senior management on client and market developments.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marine studies, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience managing and directing teams across various functions.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation and proposal writing.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.
  • Over 10 years of technical experience in the Marine, Offshore, or Oil & Gas sector.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, client management, or business development.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute sales strategies in a technical services environment.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams on engineering projects.
