Job Title: Merchandise Operations Specialist
The role of Merchandise Operations Specialist plays a vital part in facilitating the execution, planning, and evaluation of merchandising functions. This position is responsible for assisting in product assortment management, monitoring inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and supporting the implementation of merchandising strategies and marketing activities.
This position shall include but not be limited to:
  • Implementing product category's private label's and/or house brand's product range and assortment plans, pricing and promotional plan.
  • Analyzing product sales, stock turnover rate, and inventory level.
  • Analyzing customers' feedback on product categories.
  • Reviewing private label and/or house brand product quality.
  • Introducing and training all staff for new brands or products.
Merchandise Sourcing
  • Consolidating information to forecast merchandise demand.
  • Contributing to merchandise and material sourcing.
  • Analyzing information on target segments.
  • Analyzing cost of merchandise.
Merchandising Strategies
  • Providing inputs to formulate merchandising strategies.
  • Analyzing information on business environment and merchandising landscape.
  • Ensuring all merchandising strategies are followed through at all levels.
Shopper Marketing Activities
  • Analyzing information on shoppers' profiles and implementing shopper promotional plans.
  • Measuring effectiveness of change in visual merchandising displays.
  • Ensuring effectiveness of marketing activities, mechanics, and collaterals from sell-through reports and post-mortems, surveys.
  • Tracking data on campaign effectiveness for analysis.
  • Supporting activities to create awareness and triggers in the shopping cycle for all marketing activities.
Partner Relationships Management
  • Maintaining business partnerships.
  • Organizing relevant information for negotiations with partners.
  • Providing feedback on quality and effectiveness of partnership.
Cargo Handling and Logistics Delivery Overall Critical Tasks
  • Reviewing methods and techniques to better manage time and temperature-sensitive cargo.
  • Managing resources to ensure cargo-handling schedules are met.
  • Planning measures for calculating operational efficiency, utilization, and productivity.
  • Evaluating and planning cargo consolidation solutions to optimize space, cost, and efficiency.
  • Evaluating cargo handling schedules that consider timeline and resource factors.
  • Tracking and managing cargo-handling schedules to ensure timely execution and delivery.
Business Continuous Improvement Activities
  • Reviewing business process improvement solutions to determine effectiveness.
  • Evaluating technology solutions and automations to improve processes.
  • Coordinating activities to improve quality of logistics services.
  • Regularly requesting quotations e.g. quarterly or half-yearly on shipping and transportation costs to evaluate business costs.
Additional Support Tasks
  • Assisting in inputs for merchandising reports e.g., Purchases Summary, Sales, Inventory, etc...
  • Assisting in creating purchase orders.
  • Assisting in requisitioning samples & tasting stocks for staff trainings and events.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of related field experience.
  • Experience in retail or F&B industry and proficiency in MS Excel will be an added advantage.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Well-organized, good team player, and willing to learn.
