Singapore A*STAR RESEARCH ENTITIES Full time

Overview
The Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) is an industry-led Centre by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Based on a contemporary business model of public-private partnership, the Centre transforms remanufacturing and manufacturing research into industry ready solutions for cross-sectoral industry members by bringing together best-in-class global companies and R&D minds in Singapore. Currently, the ARTC works with over 80 industry members to develop advanced remanufacturing and manufacturing capabilities. The members are comprised of global MNCs, leading equipment and software providers as well as SMEs. We are seeking an innovative and technically skilled engineer to join our team, specializing in adaptive machining. This is a key technology for generative and regenerative applications at the heart of ARTC’s remanufacturing and manufacturing research. We are looking for people with the passion and drive to join us as part of the Remanufacturing Process Technology (RPT) Group. The Remanufacturing Process Technology Group also consists of research teams in Laser Directed Energy Deposition, Electron Beam and Arc Joining, Adaptive machining and Intelligent Process Remanufacturing for which individuals may also explore.
Responsibilities

Perform hands-on setup and prove-out of CNC machines, including tooling, fixturing, offsets, and verification.
Troubleshoot machining processes, adjusting toolpaths and programs to achieve precision, efficiency, and high-quality output.
Collaborate with engineering and research teams to ensure manufacturability of CAD models.
Analyse machining performance, recommending improvements in cycle times, tooling strategies, and process reliability.
Maintain accurate documentation of CNC programs, setup instructions, and process changes.
Use CAD software (preferably NX) to review models, create geometry for machining, or make design adjustments.
Develop automation scripts, macros, or tools in Python, VB, or C# to streamline CAM workflows.
Customize post-processors to ensure compatibility with CNC controls.
Conduct research on adaptive machining techniques, including automated decision-making systems, dynamic process adjustments, toolpath optimization, scanning and data gathering technologies, and machine-to-machine communication.
Prototype development: Work closely with engineering teams to build prototypes and proof-of-concepts showcasing the effectiveness of advanced machining applications. Conduct experiments to validate the performance and robustness of developed solutions.
Any other ad-hoc work for the team, Group, Organisation and A*STAR with possible secondary roles.
