Application Specialist

The role of Application Specialist is a key position within our organisation, focusing on the support and maintenance of critical applications in the financial services sector.

  • Primary responsibility is to provide first- and second-level technical assistance to end-users for these applications.
  • Closely monitor system performance and take swift action to resolve any issues that may arise, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams to guarantee seamless application integration and functionality, as well as contributing to the development of strategies to enhance overall operational effectiveness.
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and troubleshoot complex software problems, employing creative solutions where necessary.
  • Document all technical solutions and processes developed, providing valuable insights for future reference and improvement.
  • Provide support for regular system updates, patches, and migrations as required.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and internal protocols at all times, maintaining the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Contribute actively to continuous improvement initiatives within the technology department, identifying opportunities for growth and enhancement.

A successful Application Specialist should possess:

  • No less than 7 years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of broker and clearing platforms (e.g. Tradeweb, Murex, DTCC, LCH/JSCC) and common financial markets applications (e.g Bloomberg, Reuters).
  • Knowledge of prevalent monitoring solutions (e.g. ITRS Geneos, Qokpit, Elastic, Splunk, Datadog).
  • Technical proficiency in common programming languages (e.g SQL, Java, Python, Unix/Windows commands).
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical proficiency with emphasis on SQL.
  • High level of proficiency in Unix/Linux scripting.
