Lead, Lab Operations (Planning & Operations), A*SRL Join to apply for the Lead, Lab Operations (Planning & Operations), A*SRL role at A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research We are seeking a versatile and experienced professional to oversee critical laboratory operations across 3 to 4 research facilities within the institute's Operations team. The successful candidate will ensure that all laboratories operate safely, efficiently, and sustainably, providing the infrastructure and continuity essential for world‐class skin research. Key Accountabilities The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad portfolio, including laboratory and facility management, business continuity planning and execution, and environmental sustainability initiatives to enable skin research. Lead the implementation of key operational initiatives, drive performance against established operational targets to ensure a safe, efficient, and sustainable working environment, in compliance with institutional and statutory requirements. Responsible for management of assets, ensuring all assets are well accounted for in asset sighting exercises. Establish and maintain robust laboratory management systems and laboratory budgets. Oversee space allocation, renovation projects, central Lab infrastructure and equipment refresh projects. Oversee procurement and supply management to ensure laboratories are adequately stocked with glassware, consumables, dry ice, gas cylinders, and other essential materials in a timely manner. Prepare operational and management reports and support tasks assigned by senior management. Serve as the A*STAR SRL Eco Representative, promoting sustainable practices and green operations in laboratory and facility management. Supervise Logistics Officers in maintaining the Platform Pilot Management System (PPMS) and driving Research Support Centre (RSC) initiatives, including demand aggregation disposal coordination, and group insurance relating to assets. Engage effectively with internal stakeholders, A*STAR corporate partners (e.g., OSFA), landlords, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the optimal upkeep of laboratory facilities. Support and drive Business Continuity Management (BCM) initiatives to ensure continuity in lab operations. Job Requirements A Bachelor's degree in the Sciences or a related discipline. At least 6 years of relevant experience in laboratory operations within a research or scientific environment. Proven experience in business continuity, operations planning, or sustainability initiatives will be advantageous. Strong leadership, project management, problem‐solving, and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders. Creative thinker with the ability to apply strategic insights to operational tasks and problem‐solving. Highly self‐motivated, detail‐oriented, and systematic, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Resilient and adaptable when managing challenges and unexpected situations. Proactive team player with a positive, "can‐do" attitude, and strong interpersonal skills. Effective communicator, both written and verbal, confident in engaging stakeholders at all levels. Knowledge of workplace safety, laboratory management systems, and regulatory compliance requirements preferred. Experience with change management is an advantage.
