Expert Regulatory Compliance Specialist

Job Title: Regulatory Compliance Expert \

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Compliance and Risk Culture, and play a key role in helping our company manage and mitigate regulatory risk.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide ongoing compliance advisory and support to business functions on various initiatives to ensure compliance with existing and new regulations. \
• Conduct gap assessments on new regulatory developments, liaise with business functions to implement new regulatory requirements, and monitor adherence to regulatory requirements. \
• Ensure regulatory compliance registers are up to date and timely certified by Senior Management, and embed regulatory obligations into business operations. \
• Liaise with regulators and industry associations to address requests and queries, facilitate engagement sessions, and ensure effective management of relationships with key regulators. \
• Review and challenge business functions on responses to regulators, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality of responses. \
• Assist in reporting requirements to regulators, Group, Board of Directors, senior management, and other stakeholders as required. \
• Where relevant, provide mentoring and coaching to upskill fellow team members. \
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of regulatory obligations and certifications. \
• Stay up to date with changes in regulations and laws affecting the business. \
• Collaborate with business functions to foster a positive risk culture through effective risk and compliance awareness, engagement, advisory, and preventive programs. \
• Provide necessary support or mentoring and coaching to fellow team members. \
• Develop and implement effective strategies to mitigate regulatory risks and improve compliance. \
• Identify and communicate changes in regulations and laws that affect the business. \
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective compliance strategies. \
• Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. \
• Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in compliance. \
• Develop and deliver training programs to enhance knowledge and skills related to regulatory compliance. \
• Strengthen relationships with key regulators and industry associations to ensure effective collaboration and communication. \
• Address any lapses noted in regulatory compliance and provide recommendations for remediation. \
• Maintain accurate records of regulatory obligations and certifications. \
• Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. \
• Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and other stakeholders as required. \

Requirements:

• \
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with emphasis on accountancy, business administration, business management, business studies, insurance, or law. \
• At least 6 years' relevant experience, preferably in the financial services industry, with knowledge of market conduct regulatory compliance for retail customers and liaison with MAS. \
• LOMA, CMFAS papers will be an added advantage. \
• Team player. \
• Good understanding of the Financial Advisers Act 2001 and its subsidiary legislations, guidelines, and relevant industry association's memos and the application to retail business. \
• Liaison, relationship building, and communication skills e.g. mediation. \
• Building trust and credibility with Key Regulators by responding in an accurate, timely, and concise manner. \
• Project management. \
• Presentation skills. \\
