Production support is a critical function in ensuring the smooth operation of business applications. A highly skilled AS400 support specialist plays a vital role in identifying and resolving issues that impact application availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Root Cause Analysis : Perform thorough analysis to identify the root cause of application defects, using technical expertise in AS400 platform and programming languages such as RPG/LE, CL/LE, COBOL400, SQL, and Query400.
  • Defect Prioritization : Prioritize defects based on criticality and plan for production release aligned with quarterly releases or defect criticality.
  • Code Development : Develop program code, support end-to-end testing in SIT, UAT, and deployment to Production environments.
  • Production Stability : Maintain production stability by ensuring deployments have completed necessary risk and impact assessments.
  • Stakeholder Communication : Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding application-related issues or queries.
  • Support Collaboration : Assist level 2 production support with investigation, root cause finding, and feasibility of recovery approach as needed.
  • Defect Closure : Follow up on defect closure and meet defect closure KPI.
  • Knowledge Sharing : Share production defect support learning with internal teams to improve quality and minimize future defects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise : Strong technical expertise in AS400 platform and programming languages such as RPG/LE, CL/LE, COBOL400, SQL, and Query400.
  • Experience : 3-5 years of production support experience across multiple technologies/platforms.
  • Troubleshooting : Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication : Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Development : Experience with end-to-end development following SDLC.
  • Adaptability : Able to adapt easily to new technologies/environments.
  • Incident Management : Familiar with incident and problem management process.
  • Agile Methodologies : Familiar with agile methodologies.
