Job Overview

The role of Laboratory Information System Officer is pivotal in providing technical and administrative support to the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems, equipment software, and relevant technologies is essential.
  • Optimizing systems to align with laboratory performance metrics is a key objective.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the laboratory information system (LIS), including test reconciliation from various interfaces.
  • Technical support will be provided to all laboratory sections, ensuring adherence to expected turnaround times during IT disruptions.
  • The position involves ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines, collaborating with senior laboratory staff on disciplinary measures.
  • Incident reporting, investigation, and corrective actions are critical aspects of this role.
  • Maintenance of the laboratory intranet website, dashboard, and in-house development software or applications is also required.
  • Training, competency assessments, and supervision of medical laboratory technologists and medical officers are key responsibilities.
  • Document drafting and review, including policies, work instructions, bench guides, and forms, are essential tasks.
  • Identifying and resolving major issues, deciding on escalation when necessary, is an important aspect of this role.
