Job Title: Pacific Ocean Trade Lane Manager

This position will focus on the management of our Asia Pacific ocean tenders as the primary role.

The secondary role would be to source the best possible cost from Carriers/ Coloaders so that we can provide our Sales and Operations with competitive pricing to win more businesses for us.

This position reports to the Senior Ocean Procurement Manager (Asia Pacific).

Key Responsibilities:

  • To collate the ocean rates from our respective trade owners into our in-house tender template or customer's template if required.
  • To ensure every Tender's specific terms and conditions are adhered to as per customer's requirement.
  • To ensure rates for the Tender are submitted in accordance to the rates' structure as advised by the customer.
  • To review and conduct sanity check on all the rates submitted by the respective trade owners to minimize or eradicate all possible errors before submission to the global Tender team.
  • To strategise with the Ocean director and/or Ocean senior manager on the mark-up required for the tender.
  • To attend Global/ regional Tender Kick-Off calls whenever required.
  • Work with our Global Tender Management Team on postmortem of RFQs for continuous strategic improvements.

Secondary Role:

  • To take care of specific ocean trade lanes as assigned by the Division.
  • To establish a strong relationship with our partner carriers.
  • To act as the subject matter expert (SME) for the respective trade lanes under your care and to provide pricing and market intelligence guidance to our internal stakeholders.
  • To collaborate with our regional sales in providing competitive and customised freight solutions for all cross-trade rates' requests.
  • To assist in resolving regional rates/ contracts' clarifications or disputes with carriers, when needed.
  • To work with our country procurement teams in resolving/mitigating space issues whenever necessary.
  • To collaborate and synergise with our country procurement teams to share and compare freight rates from both regional and local carriers.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/ Tertiary qualifications in supply chain/logistics.
  • At least 4 to 8 years of ocean freight forwarding experience, preferably in Tender management and/or ocean pricing procurement.
  • A team player who is self-motivated and with good interpersonal skills.
  • A confident individual with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • A persistent individual with good negotiation skills.
  • A resilient individual who can work under pressure.
  • Conversant in MS skills, especially in using EXCEL spreadsheet
