About the Role

The Head of English Language Support will lead and manage EAL, Preparatory Course Primary, and Preparatory Course Secondary programmes. The aim is for pupils to develop English language skills and access the English National curriculum.

This role requires a leader who can promote a caring and happy atmosphere throughout the programmes, focusing on curiosity, confidence, and kindness.

  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations of intensive programme for pupils with beginner-level English proficiency (Preparatory Course Primary & Secondary) and less intensive EAL programme for intermediate proficiency.
  • Support Head of College in delivering school vision and be an active member of Senior Leadership Team.
  • Line manage, mentor, and coach Leads of both programmes.
  • Ensure effective performance of all EAL teachers and teaching assistants through staff development.
  • Provide strategic direction, quality assurance, and overall management of Whole School EAL provisions.
  • Demonstrate financial acumen in resource deployment.
