English Language Support Department Leader

The school now has an opportunity for an experienced English Language Support department leader to join our team. This role will lead the English Language Support department, ensuring pupils develop the skills needed to access the national curriculum. The successful candidate will promote a caring atmosphere, focusing on curiosity, confidence, and kindness. They will also recruit and lead a team of outstanding teachers and assistants, all aligned with this ethos.

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of intensive programmes for pupils with beginner-level English proficiency.
  • Support the Head of College in delivering the school's vision and be a positive member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Line manage, mentor, and coach programme leads.
  • Ensure effective performance of EAL teachers and assistants through proactive staff development.
  • Provide strategic direction, vision, and quality assurance for Whole School EAL provisions.

This role requires a positive team player with excellent communication skills, able to build and lead an outstanding teaching team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years' teaching experience, knowledge of an outstanding EAL provision, and a university degree with a teaching qualification. They will be self-reliant, resilient, and adaptable, with a willingness to support the school's ambition, values, and breadth of life.
