Cloud Operations Engineer

We are looking for a skilled Cloud Operations Engineer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our cloud infrastructure, including managing and maintaining our data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment.

As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will work closely with our software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

The Infrastructure Operations Team is the backbone of our organization, supporting our rapidly growing business and customers 24/7. We are committed to maintaining the physical infrastructure of our organization, ensuring the standards for operational performance in the areas of safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet daily hours of operations, on-call requirements, and respond during rotations.
  • Manage minor and major planned and unplanned site works for critical infrastructure, with a solid understanding of the works involved, risks, mitigation, and seeking approvals within relevant SLAs as required.
  • Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
  • Prepare reports on all aspects of the data center facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
  • Generate change management requests and incident management tickets for DCEO activities.
  • Coordinate with DCO managers (IT), Networking, Logistics, Safety, Security, and other business leaders and operating partners to execute projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
  • Review and follow the documentation relevant to technical support of business and facility operations.
  • Implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.
  • Support operating partners in the resolution of any infrastructure engineering issues.

A day in the life of a Cloud Operations Engineer includes troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs), performing rack installs, rack decommissioning, and facility management, providing operational readings and key performance indicators to ensure uptime is maintained, and overseeing maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.

Requirements:
  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
  • Ability to participate in a 24x7 rotating shift roster.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
  • Experience leading and managing operations of critical facilities which require in-depth knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Experience in management of vendors/contractors performing construction, maintenance, and upgrading works in large-scale critical environment.
