Project Cost Manager

 

The role of a Project Cost Manager is crucial in ensuring that projects are delivered within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. This position requires an expert in industrial, commercial, or data-centre projects who can manage project costs, tendering, contract administration, and value engineering.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects to ensure accurate budget allocation.
  • Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and associated costs, identifying potential areas of risk and opportunity.
  • Perform quantity take-offs for materials and labour for MEP installations, collaborating with project teams for accurate quantity assessments.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, monitor cost variations, and recommend cost-saving measures to optimize project outcomes.
  • Assist in preparing tender documents and participate in procurement processes, evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids for competitiveness and compliance.
  • Administer and manage contracts for MEP works, including variations, claims, and disputes, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on project schedules.
  • Identify cost optimization opportunities and implement value engineering solutions to reduce project costs and improve efficiency.
  • Identify potential cost and contract risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect project interests.
  • Generate regular cost reports and provide analysis and recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders; attend project meetings to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and MEP standards, undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance projects and other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or equivalent, with a strong foundation in project management principles and practices.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in industrial, commercial, or data-centre projects, with expertise in MEP works and project cost management.
  • Strong working knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical works, with the ability to analyze complex project specifications and drawings.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and adaptability, with the ability to work independently, as part of a team, and demonstrate initiative and commitment.
