Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Family Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will work with families to provide casework and counselling services to support healthy family functioning and stability.

  • Casework & Counselling:
    • Conduct intake assessments to identify needs, strengths, and risks for new clients.
    • Provide counselling services to individuals, couples, and families experiencing stress due to marital and family-related issues.
    • Manage cases and coordinate with stakeholders as needed.
  • Support Programme & Workshops:
    • Plan and facilitate groupwork interventions for parents and children.
    • Develop and lead workshops to equip couples and parents with knowledge and skills to enhance relationships and navigate life transitions.
    • Supervise visitation access for divorcing or divorced parents and their children.
  • Supervision:
    • Provide practice supervision to junior Family Support Specialists and interns/contractors.
  • Research & Practice:
    • Contribute to quality practice and professional development within the agency.
    • Engage in research to evaluate activities and identify service gaps.
    • Facilitate internal training for the team.
  • Networking:
    • Support networking and advocacy sessions with partners and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in Counselling or a Bachelor's degree in Social Work (with a recognised certification in Counselling).
  • At least 5 years of relevant casework/counselling experience in Counselling, Social Work, or related fields involving family, parents, and children.
  • Experience in conducting training and workshops is preferred.
  • Accredited membership of a professional body (such as SASW or SAC) is preferred.
  • Comfortable managing conflict.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites.
