Role Overview

The role of Assistant Director of Pathology Operations entails overseeing pathology operations, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Clinical Head of Department. The incumbent drives operational efficiency, leads the centralisation of Anatomic Pathology services across the cluster, and implements patient-centric initiatives through strategic planning and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Centralising Anatomic Pathology services within the cluster: Developing and implementing a comprehensive business model for resource consolidation and casemix harmonisation to improve oversight, quality control, and assurance measures.
  • Collaborating intra- and inter-institutionally to harmonise workflows, conduct audits, and promote sharing and learning within the cluster.
  • Organising and presenting data to support strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Executing service agreements between institutions and healthcare clusters.
Strategic Planning and Innovation
  • Upgrading facilities and equipment to meet pathology service needs.
  • Identifying improvement initiatives and opportunities to enhance service quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Undertaking feasibility studies, financial evaluations, and analyses to recommend cost-effective care models.
Financial Management
  • Reviewing financials, business models, expenditures, and savings to optimise financial sustainability.
  • Utilising data analytics for forecasting growth areas, streamlining workflows, reducing waste, and optimising resource allocation.
Compliance and Governance
  • Supporting compliance with regulations and policies, and providing secretariat support for audits and accreditation.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline, with preference given to candidates with advanced degrees.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in laboratory and/or operations.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and resource management.
